Karlie Hoferichter is a fashion designer from New York, she specializes in Haute Couture. She studied Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, London College of Fashion, and Politecnico di Milano. She has worked for Jean-Paul Gaultier, Oscar de la Renta, ANK International and others. While enduring the Covid-19 lockdowns she is working on expanding her portfolio and establishing herself in Milan.
I met Karlie here in Milan before the Covid lockdowns, and by the time we knew we would be entering a yellow-zone we were organizing a photoshoot for her ongoing collection “Soiled Doves”. She designed these pieces over the winter lockdown and I gathered my favorite hair-stylist and make-up artist and began planning. This was “Jen's friend” Freya's first time modeling and we are now trying to convince her to pursue modeling further because she did such a good job (comments of encouragement welcome!)

“Inspired by early 20th century prostitutes and child chimney sweeps and newsboys, Soiled Doves is a collection about corrupted innocence and the social confinements created by society. At the base of this concept is the idea that people are born into particular life circumstances and spend their lives being confined by them, sometimes turning out to be a disgrace in the respective societies.
The collection uses soft, light-weight airy fabrics as well as thick, dense structured wools and leathers, similar to the contrast of innocence and impurity. It includes masculine tailoring details combined with hyper feminine structures and silhouettes. ”
