PetSmart National Adoption Weekend
PetSmart National Adoption Weekend
20 November 2014
RENO, Nevada - Local Animal shelters are partnering up with PetSmart Charities to put on their National Adoption Weekend at 1,300 PetSmart stores across the nation and six in the Northern Nevada region. The event will be taking place from Friday Nov. 14 to Sunday Nov. 16.
“Volunteering for this organization has been a great opportunity,” said Amy Sabatino, an adoption counselor at the SPCA who will be working the event. “I am hoping for a good turnout to get these little guys into homes.”
The PetSmart on Mae Anne Avenue in Reno works with the SPCA of Northern Nevada, the shelter keeps a number of cats at the store to promote them in order to get them adopted. And when it comes time for weekend adoption events, they have the opportunity to bring out dogs as well as more cats.
“I think being responsible for this furry little guy has made me a better person,” said Brenna Burgess, who adopted a cat from the shelter. “I believe animals are therapeutic and insightful, and i think if you are going to have a pet you should provide a better home than they previously had.”
National Adoption Weekends are held four times a year and are sponsored by PetSmart, Purina® Pro Plan® and Tidy Cats®. The company partners up with local shelters to find homes for local homeless pets.
