RENO, Nev. – Another month of the Trump presidency, another anti-Trump protest. This time, the Reno Solidarity Project organized a “Bridges Not Walls” protest against the president’s anti-immigration actions and rhetoric, including his proposed “wall”. There were also members of ACLU of Nevada and ACTIONN present.

RENO, Nev. – Dozens of protestors gathered in front of Clifton Young Federal Building to protest the construction of the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline. The $3.8 billion pipeline would run under the Missouri reservoir that provides drinking water to the Rock Sioux tribe, and it would disturb lands that are sacred to the tribe. The protest was part of a larger trend of opponents of the pipeline due to its potential dangers.

RENO, Nev. – Bernie Sanders made a stop on his early campaign trail in Reno on December 27. An estimated 2,000 supporters showed up to listen to Sanders’ familiar messaging: higher taxes for the 1%, a $15 minimum wage, cancellation of student loan debt and universal health care for all Americans.

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is adding additional residence halls to campus in order to compensate for the growing student population. The newest dorm is set to open next fall and there are plans to demolish an old dorm, as well as change the use of the two most historic dorms on campus.
