Bernie Sanders Rally in Reno

Bernie Sanders Rally in Reno

27 December 2015

RENO, Nev. – Bernie Sanders made a stop on his early campaign trail in Reno on December 27. An estimated 2,000 supporters showed up to listen to Sanders’ familiar messaging: higher taxes for the 1%, a $15 minimum wage, cancellation of student loan debt and universal health care for all Americans.

Nevada is a swing state and is therefore an important stop on any campaign trail of a person hoping to take the presidency. Despite its proximity to Christmas holiday breaks, the event space, albeit a rather small building, was fully packed and there was a large group outside of the building hoping for a chance to hear the politician speak.

Sander’s grassroots campaign has skyrocketed over the course of the election year. His populist policies and consistency across his decades-long political career has resonated with Americans, especially millennials, who want dramatic changes in American policies. He has quickly become a beloved figure who has inspired a generation of Americans to become politically active for the first time.

His messages focus on the needs of the average American, and he addressed issues facing the working class with specific solutions rather than vague grand promises. His supporters are made of people from all ages and backgrounds.
